Lawyer - Senior Counsel / Trademark Agent

A commercial and corporate lawyer with over 35 years of experience, François A. Raymond offers advice on both legal aspects and business strategies, for a varied domestic and international clientele.

He advises Canadian and foreign businesses in a wide array of industries, including food and pharmaceutical packaging, professional sports, broadcasting, the media event and show industries, the agro-food industry, and the automotive industry. His studies in both civil and common law, along with his membership with the Quebec and Ontario bars, give him a comprehensive understanding of the Canadian legal regime.

As a registered trademark agent with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), François assists businesses to develop strategies for protecting and maximizing the value of their brands. He also specializes in the contractual aspect of the intellectual property practice, including regarding licensing matters.

As a result of his membership with various international associations and his sustained attendance to foreign conventions, François also relies on a network of trusted associates whom he assists to facilitate their clients’ entry into the Canadian market. This network also allows him to facilitate the protection of his clients’ rights abroad.

Alongside his legal practice, François is a true entrepreneur: firstly in real estate, and secondly as a co-founder of Druide Informatique Inc., a Quebec entity dedicated since 1993 to the development and marketing of writing assistance software (flagship products: ANTIDOTE & TYPING PAL).

These close ties with the real estate and technology industries make him a particularly valuable contact for entrepreneurs, with first-hand experience of the challenges they face.

François joined the BENOÎT & CÔTÉ team in 2023.
