COVID-19 (coronavirus)

Dear clients, colleagues and friends

This is a follow up to our previous message related to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.

We received a notice from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office announcing special measures in view of the current circumstances.

These measures apply to deadlines falling between March 16, 2020 and March 31st, 2020 for both Patents & Trademark matters, whereby any such deadlines are automatically extended until the “next business day”.

The definition of “next business day” is however a moving target, it could be April 1st, 2020 or a later date depending on whether or not a further extension is announced. We will keep you posted of any developments as soon as we receive them.

We confirm that our office remains fully operational and that our employees are working remotely. We are, therefore, handling our deadlines as usual. However, should you have any problem obtaining instructions from your clients such extensions can prove useful for extending the deadline.

Our best wishes to you, your families and colleagues. We look forward to the brighter days ahead.
